Spinal Stenosis had caused this once very active woman to not be able to walk down her driveway, tend to her garden, or do household work like her laundry. Here is her story.
What were some of your limitations prior to receiving treatment?
Most of it had to do with trying to walk long distances, trying to bend over, trying to lift things off the floor, like a basket of clothing out of the laundry. It hurt too bad. It was really painful.
What made you seek out chiropractic care?
In late August I was in agony from the back pain, and I had one of my brothers visit me shortly before that, and he just had spinal stenosis surgery. I thought “Thank God I don’t have to have that done!”, and then my back starts bothering me.
After they did all of the x-rays and MRIs, they decided that I had some form of spinal stenosis. And I thought, “Oh Dear God, not me!”
So I decided I was gonna be proactive and do something that would keep me from having to have surgery. That’s when I was talking with a co-worker, and she recommended that I come to Dr. Smith.
I have been so pleased that I did what she recommended because now I’m not looking at surgery. I think I’m looking at maybe being able to stabilize what I had and be able to be active still, because in my past life I was very active. I did my own yard work. That means cutting the weeds and stuff with a weed whacker. I did everything, but I had to give up a lot of it.
How long have you been receiving chiropractic care?
Even though it was late August when I started having the back pain, it wasn’t until later after I had been to my primary care physician, he referred me to a pain management specialist My daughter said, “Why don’t you go to a chiropractor?”
And then a co-worker had recommended Dr. Smith. So I got started with Dr. Smith in December of 2015, and I’ve made significant progress in the three and a half months that we’ve been working.
What are you able to now that you couldn’t do prior to treatment?
One of the main things is walk up my 300-foot driveway to pick up my newspaper and my mail. Before, when it was so painful, I was driving my car up there because I couldn’t stand to walk that far.
And now I’m able to walk the distance.
Sometimes it’s uncomfortable, but most of the time I’m OK, no problems. And I can now do my laundry, and I do some yard work that I had had to give up for a long time.
